On September 23, 2026, in New York, on the margins of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin, and the President of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Dr. Khalilur Rahman. During the meeting, the sides discussed issues related to the work of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, strengthening peace and security, the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, climate and sustainable development.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs paid particular attention to Tajikistan’s initiatives in the field of water, preparations for the 2028 UN Water Conference in Dushanbe and the process of developing the Dushanbe Water Framework, and also highlighted Tajikistan’s initiative on the International Decade of Strengthening Peace for Future Generations for 2027–2036. The sides also discussed the security situation in the region and threats posed by terrorism, extremism, illicit drug and arms trafficking, and underscored their readiness to continue close cooperation within the framework of the United Nations.

On 23 September 2026, on the margins of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan held a meeting with Ms. Deemah Al Yahya, Secretary‑General of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO).

The parties discussed the advancement of cooperation in digital development and reviewed ongoing collaboration, as well as looked ahead to the Secretary‑General’s upcoming visit to Dushanbe.

The Minister also outlined national digital priorities, including resolutions on artificial intelligence put forward by Tajikistan in the UN General Assembly. Opportunities for cooperation in artificial intelligence, digital public infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital skills and support for startups were emphasized.

On 23 September 2026, in New York, on the margins of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, and Li Junhua, UN Under-Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA).

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of Tajikistan’s cooperation with UNDESA, the global water agenda, climate change, glacier preservation and sustainable development.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed appreciation to UNDESA for its support for Tajikistan’s initiatives in the field of water and glaciers, as well as for its contribution to the organization of the Fourth Dushanbe Water Conference in 2026, emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation in preparations for the 2028 UN Water Conference in Dushanbe and the development of the Dushanbe Water Framework. The sides also discussed preparations for the 2028 Conference, including the organization of a high-level preparatory meeting at UN Headquarters in 2027 and the engagement of UN entities in the preparatory process.

On September 23, 2026, a signing ceremony of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the Republic of Seychelles on the exemption from visa requirements for holders of valid diplomatic, service, official and ordinary passports for short-term stays was held in New York.

The Agreement was signed by H.E. Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, and H.E. Mr. Barry Jude Jean Faure, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of Seychelles, in the presence of H.E. Mr. Patrick Herminie, President of the Republic of Seychelles.

During the ceremony, in addition to signing the agreement, the parties exchanged views on the current state and future prospects of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Under the signed Agreement, nationals of each Party who are holders of valid diplomatic, service, official and ordinary passports are exempt from visa requirements for entry into, exit from, transit through and temporary stay in the territory of the other Party for a period of up to thirty (30) days.

On 16 September 2026, H.E. Ashrafjon Gulov – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Arab Emirates met with H.E. Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi – Director General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) in Abu Dhabi.

At the meeting the sides exchanged views on issues related to strengthening cooperation in economy, industry, trade, infrastructure and energy sectors, and highlighted the importance of implementation of investment projects featuring sustainable developement.

According to official data, by the end of 2025, the Fund’s assets had reached AED 250 billion, equivalent to USD 68 billion.
